GOOGLE SLIDES ACTIVITY:

• Drag and Drop Rhythm Pattern Activity- Fill in the missing images.
• Drag and Drop Rhythm Pattern Activity- Fill in the missing rhythms.
• Create your own rhythms with quarter/eighth, half and sixteenth note versions.
• Write in the rhythms using the templates.
• Create Your Own Templates (4) make copies of the templates and use the digital images to create your own activities.

SPRING RHYTHM TEACHING IDEAS

• Use the presentation to review rhythms and introduce the concepts.
• Be sure to have students “say and play” the rhythms and sounds/words.
• You may need to review one class time and then continue the next class to complete the activities.
• Students may need more practice too.
• Drag and Drop Activities- do these as a class first to demonstrate how to do the activity.
• Assign or offer the create your own activities as needed.
• Use the REWARD poster to celebrate learning.
• If you don’t have rhythm sticks. I found these on Amazon and they look like that would really be great! I like using different colors because then you can divide students into groups by color. It’s a great teaching strategy you can use anytime.

RHYTHM TEACHING TIPS

USE SOUNDS INSTEAD OF WORDS

You may want to try using ta, titi, tiri tiri or tika tika, taah and taaah sounds for the rhythms before reading the words.

VARY TEACHING STRATEGIES

Try practicing the rhythm patterns differently each time.

Echo play where students play the pattern after the teacher.

Whole class plays along with a steady beat.

Have small groups play a page together. For example a line of students or all students on the red spots.

Have each student play a rhythm.

Play along with instrumental music tracks that have no vocals!
