Today I’m sharing January and Winter Songs and Poems any teacher can use to help students read-sing- and MOVE. Classroom teachers love to use poetry and songs set to familiar nursery rhyme tunes.

I’ve written so many songs like this, that I can’t even share all of them here- so I’m sticking to some favorites for January and Wintertime.

JANUARY and WINTER SONGS and POEMS

Looking for a fresh way to read and sing in your classroom during morning meetings or literacy time?  “January” is the song or poem of the month sung to the tune of “Frere Jacques” with materials to sing along with the video, learn the actions and read the lyrics.

It even has JANUARY pocket chart cards you can use to teach the lyrics, key winter vocabulary, days of the week, and special days in January. Students will love coloring the winter scene and reading the poem to their parents. There are many materials in this resource to make learning the song/poem fun for your students.

Energetic teaching song “Germs, Germs Go Away” sung to the tune of “Rain, Rain Go Away” and “Mary Had a Little Lamb” will have your students learning how to COVER YOUR NOSE, WASH YOUR HANDS and (If you’re sick) PLEASE STAY AT HOME.  It’s easy to learn with the familiar tune as the melody. 

This set of materials give you many options on teaching these simple hygiene and manners guidelines. Using the video with the vocals, actions and lyrics, students can read, move and sing providing a fun way to learn the song.  Then you can use the presentation, flashcards, coloring sheets and POCKET CHART cards to teach and reinforce the guidelines.
