HALLOWEEN SCARF ACTIVITIES

I love using scarf activities for holidays!

Scarf activities keep little hands busy.

Movement helps with attention and behavior.

Scarf moves are great to exercise fine and gross motor muscles.

And, getting in some cross body movement helps with reading and coordination.

Finally, scarf moves are fun for the children and let them express themselves through movement.

Here are some tips I’m sharing in this Video you can use in your classes.

No matter what time of year, when I do scarf activities I do help the student set some boundaries first.

I have them draw a circle around their space and make a big pretend bubblegum bubble that they need to stay inside.

I go through the actions first so that they know what to do and what I expect.

And I always give them time to do their own choice of actions. That’s one reason there’s a FREE CHOICE section in all of my YouTube videos.

I’ve found that the students are much more willing to follow the rules and the actions if they know there’s a time when they get to choose their own action!

So here are some fun and spooky Halloween scarf moves and activities.

“STIRRING MY BREW”

“HAVE YOU SEEN THE GHOST OF JOHN?” SCARF ACTIVITY

This song may be too spooky for your Kindergarteners, but it’s great for 2nd graders and up!

CREATE YOUR OWN SCARF MOVES ACTIVITY

In this video, the children are going to choose a character and make the moves of that character during the video. After experimenting, have them share their moves for their character.

Then have them do it again and see if they can improve or modify the actions.

You may want them to show their actions in small groups or individually.

SCARF ACTIVITIES FOR HALLOWEEN

IN THE HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING

I haven’t made a video of this song as a scarf activity yet, but it’s an easy one to create some moves because the TEMPO of the music as the driving force for the movement and changes throughout the piece.

You can use our FREE SCARF ACTIVITY cards with this activity too!

Get free music resource from Sing Play Create when you subscribe.

Ask students to make small bouncy BIG SWISHING moves during the SLOW MUSIC.

Use SMALL BOUNCY moves as the music gets FASTER AND FASTER.

At the end of the song, the last section during the runs WIGGLE and at the end of the phrases “like a boom or smash” have the students FLIP their scarf out.

I need to do a video of this one! But I think you’ll get the idea.

Here’s the music on YouTube!

I’m hoping your Halloween scarf activities are spooky good fun!
