In today’s post I’m sharing “Steady Beat Activities for Distance Learning at Home”. It’s the first in my distance learning at home series.

STEADY BEAT ACTIVITIES FOR DISTANCE LEARNING AT HOME

Let’s practice the steady beat today using instruments we can find around the house.  Be sure to ask your parents or caregivers for permission before you use something in the house.

Look for things that have rounded edges like empty oatmeal containers, egg cartons and boxes. You don’t want to use anything with a sharp edge.

MATERIALS FOR STEADY BEAT ACTIVITIES

 Here Are Some Ideas:

  • Empty Oatmeal container
  • Empty soda cans
  • Empty  water, drink, and soda bottles
  • Empty boxes
  • Empty food cans (be sure the edge has been smoothed down)
  • Plastic silverware
  • Combs and brushes
  • Party horns
  • Plastic cups, plates, glasses

USE YOUR OWN INSTRUMENTS AT HOME

Or, maybe you have some instruments at home?

    • Piano
    • Ukulele
    • Recorder
    • Drums

BODY PERCUSSION FOR STEADY BEAT ACTIVITIES

If not, no worries, you can play the steady beat using body percussion.

Body percussion is when you use your body to make percussive or hard sounds.  Always treat your body nicely and never hurt yourself or anyone else when you are making music using body percussion.

      • CLAP
      • PAT
      • SNAP
      • STAMP
      • Let’s play the steady beat together!
