WHY STRETCHY BAND ACTIVITIES?

“At Bear Paw Creek Movement Props, we understand the importance of music and movement for developing healthy minds and bodies of all ages. Music stimulates both sides of the brain, lifts our spirits and makes tedious activities seem fun. Incorporating motion with music brings along all the excellent physical and emotional benefits of exercise, strengthening our muscles and improving coordination.”

Check out all there is to know about the Connect-a-Stretchy Band at Bear Paw Creek:

Using stretchy bands is more than just giving students “Brainbreaks”.  Students need to develop Gross and Fine motor skills. They need learning opportunities that connect and use all senses. They also need opportunities to use their bodies to express music.

Stretchy Band Activities provide much needed movement where students have to cross the mid-line.  Picture drawing a line down the center of your body.  Activities that ask students to move from one side to the other make stronger and long lasting brain connections.

Check out how to use a CONNECT-A-STRETCHY BAND at Bear Paw Creek.

Here’s a FANTASTIC example of a movement song that has students crossing that mid-line.  Check out Jack Hartman’s Brain Breaks Song:

STRETCHY BANDS KEEP STUDENTS ENGAGED

And for me, I need need strategies to keep students engaged and learning until the last bell rings.

I put the bands out on the floor before the class comes into the music room.  This way, they’ll know something special is coming their way!

STRETCHY BANDS MAKE STUDENTS MOVE

Hopefully, I’ve got your attention now about the importance of using movement with your music lessons.

Because using a stretchy band is going to require students to move in all different directions.

You’ll want to keep reading to learn all about stretchy band activities.
